And of course the Stage Momma was the proudest and the happiest!!!!

She represented the BLUE Team during their Intramurals last month. Who would have thought our little girl will give us the performance of her life. For the past 2 school programs, Sophia was very shy to dance around an audience. She just stood up and sway a little and then ran to the audience to join them watch her fellow classmates.

So when she danced and entertained all of us during the program I was in awe!!! I totally didn't expect it. I was amazed and  I was teary eyed. My two year old, has gone a long way. Full of confidence and charisma. She got everybody's attention and everybody loved her. Oh,She never fails to amuse me every single day.

Too bad hubby didn't get to see her dance that day. When I told him all about it he was envious. Very very envy... Lol. :)

I didn't get to record her dance that day because I was enjoying too much of the show she made for us. But I have  a video that I took at home, and more or less will give you the idea on what happened on the talent show.

Sophie Style: Buwan ng Wika

Last friday, Sophia's school celebrated the culmination of the "BUWAN NG WIKA" for the month of August. I was only informed 2 days prior to the said program that they have to wear Filipino costume. 2 days. Because  that's the time Sophia got back to school after being hospitalized. Luckily, my friend Nina saw and bought the last piece on display that fits Sophia. Well kinda fit her, I had to adjust the skirt because it was way too long. Other than that I was happy with how the dress looked on her. Haaaaaaaaay salamat.

Anyways, so last friday we have to take a day off, me and hubby , to see Sophia dance. To see her in action. She has been dancing at home, and I believe she's doing the steps for their dance number. We were so excited.

Parents were encouraged to wear Filipino costumes also. But because of the limited time, I wasn't able to find me a costume. But I'm glad hubby has a lot of Barongs so at least there's one of us who can go wearing a Filipino costume. 

We had a critic saying "we are such stage parents" for taking a leave at work to see our barely nursery one kid (Sophia is in playgroup). And even commenting about wearing the Barong when it's not really compulsory. OH MY GOD!!!!

First, branding us "stage parents". I don't know about that. What I know is, we love our daughter so much and on this specific occasion we want to be there for her. It's hard enough to leave her everyday to go to work so on occasions like this, we just don't want to miss it. The best gift we can give her is our TIME. (So scratch you!)

Second about the barong, I'm proud to say Hubby won the best in Filipino Costume. When his name was called, Sophia was so happy. She was jumping up and down singing, Daddy daddy daddy!!!! She was so proud you can see through her twinkling eyes. Seeing my daughter that happy and proud of us, introducing us to her classmates and teachers was all worth it.

We sent Sophia to school late of July because she was getting shy around kids. And since then a lot of things have changed. She's more playful around kids, she's more interactive with them too. Everyday after school she amazes us with the new things she learned that day. :)

Letting Sophia go to school is one of the best decisions we've made for her. :)

Fear Not. Child's Dental Visit

She enjoys Oral Prophylaxis a lot

To have a child patient is already exhausting, to have a child patient who is scared of you is so much frustrating. I have to face that everyday. And everyday I see parent's anxiety build up when 15 minutes is up and the child still won't open her/his mouth for examination. And then there goes the bribing.... candies, icecream, toys to take me here take me there...

So why are your kids scared of dentist? Because maybe you parents are too. 

Maybe it's time to overcome those fear and face it so you won't be able to pass that same fear to your children. Parents should be their children's role Model. They must be able to look up to you as good example. So, you should brush regularly, visit the dentist at least twice a year, control your dental anxiety and sport a healthy set of teeth too.

Never ever try to use dentists, and our works as threats for punishments to naughty or misbehaving children. Pls thats a No. No. Children fear the unknown and if you associate dentist as somebody to be feared then most likely, your kids are going to.

Prevention is always better than cure. Don't take your children to the dentist only with an aching tooth. For sure their first dental visit will be unpleasant and future dental visit will be non existent.

Teach your children to brush their teeth every after meal. So they will get used to the feeling of a clean mouth. We teach our children to wash their hands/wash their face until it becomes a habit. Same thing should happen with tooth brushing.

Your child's first dental visit should be around his/her first birthday. More than examining the child's mouth, this visit is more on preventive measures, the visit will provide the dentist opportunity to educate the parents and caregivers about dental habits to avoid potential dental problems and focus on a preventive approach.

Fearless Patient

If you want to raise a child with a bright and healthy smile for the rest of his/her life then make them visit their dentist regularly.

Sophie's Style: Crayons our New Secret Weapon

Boy, don't you love crayons?

Well, I do. Beside from the very obvious reason that I am specially inclined to artworks, pretty and colorful things, Crayons has become the secret weapon we use to Sophia when we she becomes very impatient and irritated, and it has worked wonders on her.

Say for example in restaurants, my hyper active child couldn't stay still and wait for our orders to come. Bring out the paper and crayons.... and TADA.... instantly our table becomes peaceful as we wait for our hearty meal. Now who says, we can't handle going out without a yaya? Yes, we are still yayaless. But slowly now we've adapted and being hands on working parents has become easier now compared to the first few months we let go  the yaya...

Anyways, we went to Manila last May 13 and 14, just the three of us, hubby, me and Sophia. Crayons made our lives easier that day at least easier for Maury and I, and fun for Little S.

When the magic of the crayon comes to an end, Little S is back to her active self but of course kids are kids and there is no way you can stop them from being curious and playful. But at least when we need time to control their tantrums or when we need to divert our little kids attention we have crayons/colors to depend on. At least it worked for my Little S.

{Sophia's 2nd Birthday} Sophie's Style: Birthday Photoshoot

1 week before Sophia's 2nd Birthday I scheduled her photoshoot so I can finalize her Tarpaulin and I needed a good quality picture to make her a standee.

We didn't hire a professional photographer I just took her pictures with hubby's DSLR. The photoshoot was chaotic, as in. Super Duper to the highest level. Little S had so much fun. Maybe too much fun making me run after her. She wouldn't stay still. As in. I kept telling her, "anak, we are running out of time". To no avail, she was running and laughing and I was still all chasing her.

In my mind, i kept telling myself  "Patience is a virtue"


But really who could get mad when she's all looking like this.

Sha sha sha....I decided to just had fun with her and took her pictures, snapshot after snapshot... 

Until finally she stood still and said, "Mommy, picture". O diba Bongga bebe ko. She takes her time talaga. hahahah...

Sophia is having a Tangled Birthday Party. I searched anywhere for Rapunzel gowns but there was just none. At the mall, they only have Belle, Snow White, Cinderella, Jasmin, even Ariel but wala si Rapunzel. Why why why? Diba Disney Princess din naman si Rapunzel?  It was really so depressing because 2 weeks isn't enough to customize Rapunzel's gown.

Luckily I found this gown by IHA in Ayala Cebu. It isn't really a Rapunzel Dress but it's purple and she looks pretty on it. That made it perfect for the D' Day

I was planning to make Mini standees for her as well to add to the centerpieces I'm making for her birthday, here are other pictures I took from her in a span of 1 week.

We reused the gown she wore at her Tita Jet and Tito Lloyd's wedding. She just loves this gown. I love it too.

Sophie's Style: Yellow Pajamas

I love, love love Little S' happy disposition. It is what we wanted her to be, a happy child. Of course she also has bad days, like this day. 

She woke up today crying, looking for daddy. This happy pic here was after daddy's phone call.

Hubby has been so busy lately with work because their company has been scheduled for audit, there were nights where he stayed out because his work is 2 hours away from our place and I hate the thought of him driving late at night and then getting out of the house at dusk of dawn, it's not safe and very unhealthy for him. Instead of going home we decided that he stays at a hotel that's somewhere near the office.

So for those days that hubby was working it's just me and Little S. We play, read stories and had so much fun together, but from time to time she asks me where daddy was and I tell her, daddy has to work. I hate the look on her face after telling her that daddy won't be coming home. You see, both are soooooooo close to each other, Little S is inlove with daddy and Daddy is inlove with her princess.

One morning I was awaken by her cry, looking for her daddy. So we had to call daddy at 5 am to her persistent request, she actually handed me my phone to dial daddy's number.

The call, instantly made her giddy happy. She was all smiles after, hugging and kissing me, she even sang and dance after.

Talking to daddy made Sophia's day.

Sophie's Style: Partying (CJ's Disney All Star Birthday Party)

The last children birthday party we attended to was Cj's 7th birthday and their family's despidida  party all in one, because they're going to the US for good.

Lucille, Cj's mom, is one of my high school bestfriend, I think I've written bits about our friendship in this blog and specifically here, I'm not going to expound about how close we are in this post because I don't want to be all emotional and I intend to keep this post happy and colorful. I am going to miss Lucille and her family, I'm glad we've built solid memories together. So let's just leave it at that.

Now back to the party.

Cj's All Star Birthday Party Theme was filled with colorful swags and balloons. The whole place was decorated with almost all disney characters. It was a lovely party.

I've noticed few remarkable things about Sophia, we went to the party riding a cab just me and her because hubby was working til 7 pm and we will just meet him there, anyways we are yayaless ( no nanny) since Christmas. I was a bit scared if I'll be able to handle my very active Sophia alone with two large bags and a neatly wrapped birthday gift on hand. But Surprisingly, we survived. She was very behave the whole 45 minutes trip to the party.... (clap clap)

At the party, she wasn't scared of  clowns anymore, (another clap clap). She was actually having fun and she even asked me to take pictures of her with the clown. :) Oo diba? when our babies overcome their fear, we moms are always happy :)

When I was a toddler, I remember sneaking my way to the cake table and when no ones watching I'd stick my finger on the cake to steal me some icing.

Guess what? my little Sophia did that at the party and I was hysterically laughing at what I saw, it felt weird. lol . Maybe it's a stage we all go through as a kid. Whatever it is, I think it's cute. I'm glad I was able to capture this moment and I'm sharing it to all of you.

I was talking to my friend when I noticed, Sophia wasn't in her kiddie chair. I looked for her and found her here:

See the sticking out of the finger and the stealing for some icing love? So like mommy.... hahahaha....

 

Finger licking good. Nobody would have notice what she did except there were traces of icing on her shirt.

When she spotted me looking at her, she ran off laughing....

Ahhh.... Mommy Moments like this is worth remembering....

Sophie's Style:Holiday Monday Kung Hei Fat Choi

Last Monday, we went to have the image of our Sto Nino blessed at no other than Basilica Minor del Sto Nino.

We are going to move to our new home very very soon. And our Nino will be going with us, that's why we have the image blessed ahead of time.We are just taking one step at a time, I will blog about it more on the next few days so I can go and share it with you and maybe you can give me advices because I'm really open to it.

Anyways, here's Sophia's outfit for the day.

Everytime we go to Sto Nino Church I always ask hubby to take pictures of the Magellan's Cross which is just beside the church, I don't know I just wanna feel like a tourist of my own place hehehehe... As I was making this post I saw few pics of last year at the same place and I compared it to our new pic and I can't help feeling emo again, because my Sophia is a grown up... (exage) but really she has grown.

This was her at 9 months old, with only two lower incisors, who can't walk without me holding her.

This is her now. 1 year and 9 months old.

It took me great efforts to get this girl and have pictures with me. And she already has complete set of temporary teeth. And she can now run and loves to play chase... hahays... 

Anyways, we went to SM Cebu after, and we happened to see Dragon dancers in celebration for the Chinese New Year. Sophia enjoyed the dance and was even dancing too, she enjoyed it a lot until we decided to take photos with the dragon.

What year were you born? 

I was born 1982 the year of the Dog.

Oi, I like what it says ha. I'm decent and honest. Plus it looks like I will have a good year this year.

Hubby was born 1980 the year of the Monkey.

Oh, hubby you should be careful and true to yourself daw.

Our little Sophia was born 2010. The year of the Tiger. GRRRR...

I don't know about this my baby is still small and it's way too heavy for her to take on leadership. But this sure does sound like a strong Zodiac Sign to me.

We got hungry chasing Little S who's following the dragon dancers but don't want to go near them, so we filled our hungry stomach with our fave Filipino food at one of our fave resto Chikaan sa Cebu.

  

All I can say is lami. We ordered Calamares, Pork Belly, It was my first time to eat Pinakbet and I actually enjoyed the food, and Tinolang Isda because Sophia loves soup and fish. Just like her dad. Me, I'm such a pork person. But this year I'm going to cut on the meat. Good Luck on that.

The guys from the other table were complimenting Sophia, they were so amazed on how our one year old eats by herself. I'm even amazed how independent she is, she doesn't want to be fed that's why she learned to eat on her own at an early age.

I love long weekends, I get to spend time with my lovies but comes tuesday and I miss them bigtime.
