DIY Paper Stockings Advent Calendar

Merry Christmas!!!!

We started the month putting up the Advent Calendar. I spent two days making these paper socks, from an outline hubby made. Two days. And I'm glad I finished it on time.

This is the template hubby made for me to trace and cut. It was made in such a way that when you fold it makes a little envelope at the back where we can put little inserts that suggest fun activities for the whole family  favorite goodies and special treats for Little S and Kuya I. :)

Embellish. Embellish. Embellish. Oh, the numbers were cut out by Kuya I and Little S helped paste it. It was one fun crafty event for all of us. :)

Everyday Kuya I and Little S are excited for Christmas countdown. Eager to see whats in store for them on that day. This is one Christmas tradition we all enjoy as a family...

What are your Christmas Traditions? Please do share. :)

Crocolandia

I have been so busy lately and wasn't able to update  this blog, there's so much I want to share with you guys. There's Sophia's UNO and Trick or treat Experience... But for today, I want to start with our trip to Crocolandia.

w/ the kiddos

It's a mini- zoo here in Cebu. Hubby and I thought it would be a nice experience for Sophia and Kuya Icee to get in touch with nature and be more familiar with animals.

It was a sunny and lovely day to go on our mini family field trip...

We saw varieties of mammals, birds and reptiles.

And got upclose with the most popular crocodile in Crocolandia, the mighty and very huge 6 meter crocodile "Lapu-lapu" . Although we were standing quite far from it, we were still scared, who would blame us. reptiles especially crocodiles are not really very friendly looking. Stressing on NOT...

Except for this one...

Inside the museum

It's a fun family trip. We got to bond and learned a few things about nature together.... The one that's not painful in the pocket.
Entrance fees:
Adults - 100 php
Children 11 yrs below - 50 php
2 yrs and below - free

You can give them a visit at:

Love Notes for Sophia: Beautiful Inside Out

Photo taken Nov. '11

"Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves; vanity, to what we would have others think of us."
~ Jane Austen

Stay beautiful baby...

Love,
Mommy

I want to teach Sophia a lot of things and I'm scared I might miss out on the things I know now.
This post is for her.

For her to remember how everything was when she was still little

For her to never forget the values I want her to keep forever and most especially...

For her to know in her heart, what a GREAT LOVE I have for her.

Everybody's Special

Everybody's special. Do you agree with me?

If you can't spell, or if you are mathematically challenged do you consider yourself dumb?  Well think again, there must be something you can do better than somebody else does. Say for example one friend of mine who is like a walking calculator and who always excel in math and won every quiz bee he had attended BUT has a very hard time associating with people. Or this other friend of mine who's average in college and flanked a few subjects BUT is now a very successful salesman.

According to Dr. Howard Gardner there are 9 kinds of Intelligence. Which explains why there are certain things we are very good at and some we are just "so-so".

Source

Here are the 9 Kinds of Intelligence.I got from here and here. See for yourself where you belong.

1. Linguistic Intelligence (Word Smart)
Reflects the ability to read, write, tell stories, and learn languages, grammar, and syntax.  Evident in most poets, journalists, and public speakers.
2. Logical-mathematical intelligence. (Number/ Reasoning Smart).
The ability to calculate, quantify, consider propositions and hypotheses, and carry out complete mathematical operations. It enables us to perceive relationships and connections and to use abstract, symbolic thought; sequential reasoning skills; and inductive and deductive thinking patterns.
This is a bit me, though I hate Math but I always get high grades during my school days and I definitely have a good reasoning skill and I love watching suspense/ detective movies and TV series and I often get the outcome.
3. Musical Intelligence. (Musical Smart)
Sensitive to sounds, tones, rhythms, pitch, musical keys, and structure of the songs (from verse and chorus to symphonies).
Oh, this is hubby. He can play almost all instruments and can play a song with the guitar or piano by just listening to the melody of the song.
4. Spatial Intelligence. (Picture Smart)
The ability to imagine, understand, and represent the visual-spatial world. They may have a good sense of direction, hand-eye coordination, and visual memory.
5. Bodily-kinesthetic Intelligence. (Body Smart)
The capacity to manipulate objects and use a variety of physical skills.  This intelligence also involves a sense of timing and the perfection of skills through mind–body union.  Athletes, dancers, surgeons, and craftspeople exhibit well-developed bodily kinesthetic intelligence.
6.  Interpersonal intelligence. (People Smart)
The ability to understand and interact effectively with others.  It involves effective verbal and nonverbal communication, the ability to note distinctions among others, sensitivity to the moods and temperaments of others, and the ability to entertain multiple perspectives.  Teachers, social workers, actors, and politicians all exhibit interpersonal intelligence.
This is kind of a little bit of me too.
7. Intrapersonal intelligence. (Self Smart)
The ability to be self-aware and explore emotions, goals and motivations. This perspective on the human condition is used by writers, philosophers, psychologists, and theologians. To improve your intrapersonal intelligence, “know thyself”—write in a journal, meditate, try the personality tests mentioned above.
8. Naturalistic Intelligence. (Nature Smart)
Individuals with green thumbs and “horse whisperers” have naturalistic intelligence. They are sensitive to nature and may easily recognize and classify species. T
9. Existential Intelligence.
The ability to explore questions about life, death, and what lies beyond the subjective perspective.
Knowing this, made me understand each individual more and confirmed that indeed everybody is special.

As a mom, I find it important to recognize where my child excels so I can appreciate her more and support her to further enhance her skills. Or, I can help her improve and strengthen where her weakness is to improve her whole well being.

What field of intelligence do you most likely belong guys? and which field do you need to improve more?

Have a nice day Brainiacs....

People's Choice Award

 Goes to:

SOPHIA!!!!!

And of course the Stage Momma was the proudest and the happiest!!!!

She represented the BLUE Team during their Intramurals last month. Who would have thought our little girl will give us the performance of her life. For the past 2 school programs, Sophia was very shy to dance around an audience. She just stood up and sway a little and then ran to the audience to join them watch her fellow classmates.

Sophia: " The Blue Team"

So when she danced and entertained all of us during the program I was in awe!!! I totally didn't expect it. I was amazed and  I was teary eyed. My two year old, has gone a long way. Full of confidence and charisma. She got everybody's attention and everybody loved her. Oh,She never fails to amuse me every single day.

Cheerdance

Too bad hubby didn't get to see her dance that day. When I told him all about it he was envious. Very very envy... Lol. :)

Production Number

In her Talent portion.

I didn't get to record her dance that day because I was enjoying too much of the show she made for us. But I have  a video that I took at home, and more or less will give you the idea on what happened on the talent show.

Piatot and the proud Stage Mommy

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Now I have to prepare for her UN happening next week. Hopefully she will still wear the same enthusiasm and confidence that day.

You'll be reading about it soon.
